WAMITAB NVQ, CoTC and Operator Competence Certificates

We deliver high quality WAMITAB NVQ, CoTC, Operator competence certificates and Waste Management training courses and assessment for learners through our industry experienced assessors. We work with you to plan how you can attain your qualifications in the most effective way.

We offer the full range of WAMITAB qualifications and waste management workshops to help learners with their knowledge and understanding requirements of Operator competence scheme.

WAMITAB qualifications are divided into statutory and non statutory awards. Statutory awards are those that are required by law to undertake certain roles in the waste industry. Non statutory awards provide a way for employees to prove their job competence and gain a real qualification.

The Qualification and Credit framwork (QCF) is a system for recognising skills and qualifications. It does this by awarding credit for qualifications and units (small steps of learning). Each unit has a credit value. This value specifies the number of credits gained by learners who complete that unit. The flexibility of the system allows learners to gain qualifications at their own pace along routes that suit them best. They replace the NVQ system previously used to assess competence in the waste management industry.

There are different levels of qualifications in the waste industry starting at Level 1 progressing through to Level 4. Managerial qualifications are at level 3 & 4 whilst levels 1 & 2 are aimed at operatives and supervisory staff. The WAMITAB qualification that is right for you will depend on your job role and experience and the type of site you are working at.

We offer several payment options from highly competitive fully inclusive fixed prices or hourly training and assessment rates. For a personalised quotations please contact us.

Which award is right for you?

Environmental Permitting Regulations (EPR) 2007 in England and Wales require permitted waste facilities to demonstrate they employ technically competent personnel and defined a list of waste site “risk tiers”.

Operator Competence Scheme – Risk Tiers

Different types of facility and the waste they accept present different levels of environmental risk. The WAMITAB/CIWM scheme categorises them into three “risk tiers” – High, Medium and Low.

How does this affect training?

The higher the risk level, the more areas you will need to demonstrate competence in:

  • High Risk Sites – need 12 Qualification Credit Framework (QCF) units
  • Medium Risk Sites – require 6 Qualification Credit Framework (QCF) units
  • Low Risk Sites – must complete 4 Qualification Credit Framework (QCF) units.

What we can do

We can assess these qualifications within your workplace. We will appoint a dedicated assessor to mentor you through the units in your particular qualification. You as a learner will be required to build a portfolio of evidence, much of which is done during your normal working activities. This is then assessed against the WAMITAB/CIWM standards.
