Landfill Tax Increase to £48 per tonne

The standard rate of Landfill tax rises from today 1st April 2010 to £48 per tonne as part of the Landfill Tax Escalator policy, which it was announced in the budget has now been extended to 2014.

The chancellor, Alastair Darling as part of his budget on the 24th March 2010 also announced that the Landfill Tax will reach the £80 per tonne mark in 2014 and had revealed that the tax will not reduce below this amount in future.

The lower rate for inert waste continues to be frozen until 2011/2012 at £2.50 per tonne.
