DASH Waste Operative Induction Training

We deliver the DASH training programme which is  an industry developed induction programme endorsed by the Health & Safety Executive (HSE).

It uses training materials (including powerpoint presentations and trainers notes) which have been developed in a user friendly format and is delivered over 1.5 days.

There is also a high quality DVD and multiple choice question bank which is used to confirm understanding at the end of each day.

Background

The Dorset Action on Safety and Health (DASH) training programme was set up to develop industry-specific solutions to the problem of illnesses and injuries, and the unacceptable levels of fatalities and RIDDOR reported accidents in the waste and recycling industry.

What we can do

We will arrange to deliver the training to your staff either on or off site depending on your preferences. In addition, learners can be registered with WAMITAB and on completion of the course will recieve a certificate that can be used as evidence towards units for those learners progressing on to a WAMITAB Level 2 vocational programme.

How does this affect training?

WAMITAB have mapped the underpinning knowledge and practical elements of the induction to their level 2 programmes, and successful achievement provides recognition of prior learning towards the units indicated below, which provides an entree into further training progression;

  • Conforming to efficient working practices in the workplace
  • Maintain a healthy and safe working environment for waste management activities
  • Manual handling, lifting and moving of loads in a waste environment

Course Content

There are seven key areas covered by the training material and high quality dvd.

  • Section 1 – H&S Law
  • Section 2 – Safe collection of Refuse and Recycling
  • Section 3 – Safety Features on RCVs/Compaction and lifting equipment
  • Section 4 – Safe working at Landfill, Transfer Stations and on rounds
  • Section 5 – Reversing Assistant Training
  • Section 6 – Manual Handling
